“It is an exciting privilege to be involved in bringing such a diverse array of medical solutions to life!”
Working in venture capital is a unique opportunity for Ismael to support a variety of start-ups and learn from each founder’s journey. “I want to help entrepreneurs on their mission to revolutionise healthcare as it allows me to engage with many new and fascinating ideas on how to best approach treatment of patients in the future and at the same time achieve a global impact to allow for healthier and longer lives. Doing so at the intersection of medicine, science and business perfectly combines all my interests.”
Ismael completed his medical studies at the University of Basel and was awarded a doctoral degree for clinical research into the influence of diabetes treatment on steroid hormones. At Oxford University he joined a translational research group to pursue his PhD with the goal to improve access of patients and clinicians to the benefits of fundamental scientific discoveries. Realising the importance of economics in furthering medical innovation he did project work for start-ups and participated in entrepreneurship programmes, winning the Young Entrepreneurs Scheme 21.
If he gets the chance, you’ll find him surfing (if possible, without a wetsuit), enjoying the variety of modern pentathlon or trying out every dish he has not yet tasted.
